Next Steps in the Journey

In the warmer spring morning times I am on the porch with my coffee worshiping God and reading a devotional. I love to sing ”This is the Air I breathe”. Then with prayers and listening I become aware of my daily assignment: if I am called to write on this day, to counsel others, or merely do the little bit of yard and housework that I can do while continuing to worship.
Oswald Chambers in “My Utmost For His Highest” says it so well. When we are saved and sanctified, intimately connected to God and fully aware of His guidance, we need not ask continually “What should I do” this minute or the next. But trust that He is beside you and guiding you every minute. Listen to those “checks” that say do not go this way but otherwise proceed in confidence. Let His Spirt lead us unhindered.
Here is one example of His recent leading.
Earlier this week I felt some real spiritual fatigue while listening to folks who seem stuck and immobilized by overwhelming problems. I am used to being a pro-active listener who then is able to help others craft responses and actions that work. On this day, we as a group responded in prayer to what felt like an oppressive, suffocating attack on all our families. And God moved so powerfully! He seemed relieved that we had finally brought this heavy issue to Him in His throne room. Its an issue that none of us have the power to change or control, but this day our hearts felt His word of promise to protect us and our children and our grandchildren was true and unbreakable! We were reassured that He will move in these areas and restore order to His righteous families and return children to their homes for those He has called His own.
“For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself”” (Acts 2:39).
“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”(Numbers 23:19).
God did move very quickly and we saw children returned to their family in at least one situation. What Joy to serve a God who hears His childrens’ cries!
